On a Wing And A Prayer Karen D Badger Books
Started out so well. I has such high hopes but the second half of the book fell flat. I thought the 1st half of the book would have the interactions leading up to the big reveal with the latter half concentrating on the 2 getting their act together. Did not turn out how I was hoping. 80% into the book the 2 love interests had been the same room a total of one time with a whopping 2 telepone conversations. Really??? Then the author threw in these action scenes that were completely unnecessary. And why didn't someone tell me the book was set in the 90's. No smartphones or tablets from which to check email quickly. Half the book was spent waitng for desktops to boot up. There was mention of a modem. I just found that annoying b/c i went in thinking we were present day. Anyway...wanted to love this book but in the end I couldn't.

On a Wing And A Prayer Karen D Badger Books Reviews
Karen Badger, who also writes under the pen name KD Bard, has always been one of my favorite fan fiction authors. She writes with good humor and complete thoughts. Such is the case with `Prayer,' a book that started as fanfic offering and finally made it to the printed page.
Cass Conway is a pilot who flies various cargo and light passenger flights. On a layover, she visits a bookstore and purchases a book by Roxanne Ward, a popular science fiction author. Of course, the book is the second in a series, but after seeing the author's picture on the back cover Cass can't resist. Borrowing the first book from a friend and devouring both over the weekend, Cass initiates an e-mail correspondence with Rox and the two develop an online, virtual relationship.
Through their continuing correspondence, Cass discovers that Rox is in an abusive relationship. The fact disturbs her deeply because her own previous relationship was abusive. On top of that, Cass finds herself falling in love with Rox and wants to protect her from danger. Because they've only met electronically, Rox doesn't know Cass is a woman, a fact Cass never intentionally tries to hide. When Cass goes to Rox to help after yet another brutal beating, the assumedly-straight Rox panics when she discovers who Cass really is. They discover a lot about each other as they deal with this new complication. The only question is, can fated love overcome?
I truly liked this book and highly recommend it. Experiencing the unexpected twists through Rox's eyes is interesting and it's intriguing to watch her struggle with her newfound feelings. Cass is so stoic in her reaction to the situation; it's hard not to feel her angst. The story is one that reinforces the idea of falling in love with the person instead of their chromosomes and is well worth the time to read and enjoy.
Great Book ! Enjoyed reading it.
I liked most of the book but a couple of thing with the story line took me out of losing myself in the story.
I loved this book! From cover to cover it is full of storybook romance and pure love. It asks the question, Can you fall madly, deeply in love with a soul no matter who it belongs to and make it work even if it goes against everything that is "natural" to you? You will fall in love with Cass and Rox instantly and Nikki and Jerri are just as wonderful. They really try to look out for their best friend,Rox.
Cass will do anything for Rox if she will just let her...most of all Cass just wants to love her! You can't get any more romantic than that. On A Wing And A Prayer is a classic love story with lots of love, adventure, mistaken identity, great friendships, humor, and eventually great sex! Can't forget that...I love a good thunderstorm at the beach!
This book brings up very real issues that come up in todays internet world. Can you fall in love with someone that you have never met and when you do come face-to-face with them, what if it is not what you expected? I highly recommend this wonderful book! It is an easy, enjoyable read. You won't want to put it down!
The internet plays a role in everything we do today. Karen Badger has written an eye-opening romance, On a Wing and a Prayer that exposes the internet's pervasive influence in our lives.
Cass Conway, an airline pilot, meets Roxanne Ward, a fiction author, through email correspondence after she reads one of her books and is enchanted by the author's back cover photo. They correspond for months, and the emails become increasingly intimate. They share with each other their present lives and their growing feelings for one another. But Rox isn't free to be with Cass. She is in an abusive relationship with her partner. After a terrible beating that puts Rox in the hospital, Cass travels cross country to help her and finally meets her for the first time. But Cass is not who Rox thought she is and needs to reconcile this from her months of correspondence.
Badger is insightful with her assessment of how easily we expose ourselves over the internet. As Cass and Rox' attraction for each other grows, they become comfortable with very personal details that may not have occurred if they had met and pursued the relationship through a series of face-to-face encounters. On a Wing and a Prayer also handles the issues of falling in love over the internet and the pitfalls that may arise by this kind of relationship with thought-provoking questions. These questions are posed to the main characters by their respective best friends who caution them on developing attachments to a person that they have not met. Their friends become their reality check, and this balances the plot and prevents the book from going over the top.
Badger adds a tantalizing twist with this romance. Rox believes that she has fallen in love with a man because the subject of Cass' sex never comes up in emails. When they finally meet, after Rox has returned from the hospital, Rox is shocked by this discovery and immediately withdraws. As these scenes are fleshed out, Badger shows us how love transcends all with emotionally charged thoughts and dialogue. Rox experiences, denial, anger, confusion, weariness and finally realizes the one answer to the all important question- can she live without Cass for the rest of her life just because Cass is a woman?
On a Wing and a Prayer is a well written story that many of us can relate to because the internet is so omnipresent in our lives. Badger skillfully composes an exceptional romance that has us believing in the notion that love can conquer all. I highly recommend this one of a kind romance.
